This weekend my Documentary photojournalism class will be heading to Walton County to do photo-stories about life there. The story I am hoping to tell is about the counter culture movement, or what exists of a counter culture movement, in a small Southern town.
Through a Google search I found the band All But Empty. The band, which has 5 members, plays what is best described as hardcore, screamo, and metal. An odd combination I’m not particularly fond of, but it represents a logical question. How does one rebel in a small town?
I found out 3 of the members are on a varsity sports team, and another is a fairly devout Christian. So, how are they part of a counter culture movement? That’s what I’m hoping to show.
