Heidi Davison is the mayor of Athens and was fortunate enough to cover her during the 2006 Mayoral election.
Anyways, taking photos of people giving talks at the SLC is one of the more challenging things I’ve had to take photos of this year.
Usually the lighting is terrible, and its fairly difficult to control backgrounds. Well, it was until I was covering this event.
While shooting I discovered this angle and knew right away that this was the shot.
I really wanted to get her with students behind her, but I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to get it so I got as close to the back wall as I could and waited until she looked towards the camera. I also used my 70-200mm lens at f/ 2.8 to throw the background out of focus. Anyways, I really liked how this one came out.
