Diversity Days: Mary Frances Early

As many people may or may not know, UGA put up resistance during integration.  Well, thankfully the administration has changed its mind since the 1960s and does a better job trying to be inclusive.

Yesterday marked the beginning of Diversity Days 2007.  The week was kicked off by the unveiling of three new portraits in the Holmes-Hunter Academic Building of Charlayne Hunter-Gault, Hamilton Holmes, and Mary Frances Early.  Early was the only one of the three who was in attendance because Gault lives in South Africa, Holmes is deceased.  The three were the first African-American students to attend the University.
