So, I definitely got bit by the medium format bug. Sometime between now and when I posted the photo of my roommate Stephen using the fake medium format trick I learned, I decided to just go all out and buy a film medium format camera off ebay. I was able to find a Mamiya RB67 which produces 6cm by 7cm negatives. Traditional 35mm film produces a 2.4cm by 3.6cm negative. Additionally, the lenses have different characteristics on a negative that large. Much like how traditional 35mm lenses look different on crop bodies, the same holds true on medium format lenses.
I’m going to buy my first roll of film for the new beast today, and I say beast cause the thing is huge, but after I get it processed and be sure to post the results here.
