Portraits: Natasha Smith

The other day after selling off some gear I didn’t use frequently I upgraded my 50mm f/1.4 lens to the Canon 50mm f/1.2 L series lens.  First and foremost, I didn’t buy this lens for the marginal 1/3 stop of light it was capable of.  I bought it for the superior build quality over the 1.2 and from what I’ve seen so far better color and contrast.

Whenever I get a new lens, I like playing with it before I have a real shoot so I can get a feel of how it will look at various settings.  With that in mind, my friend Natasha went to Piedmont Park with me to pose for some quick portraits so I could see what this glass was capable of.  Here are some of the results.
