The other weekend I went with my wife and her cousins to the Saviors Tour at SoFi Stadium. It was the second time I’d seen Rancid but first seeing Smashing Pumpkins and Greenday. It was nice seeing Rancid again, although I imagine it’ll probably be the last time as they are getting older and seeing them at a huge football stadium was really weird. There was some nostalgia with seeing Smashing Pumpkins live, but you could tell Billy Corgan didn’t want to be there. Greenday gave a great performance as well, but it made me think about how you couldn’t really even consider them a punk band anymore. Not that that’s a problem, but they crossed over to mainstream rock and it’s super apparent with their live show. Like, never been to a punk show (and I’ve been to a lot) that had pyrotechnics.
