Shot a rodeo tonight for the paper, its only the second rodeo I’ve ever shot (see here for the first). I think the biggest lesson I learned from shooting it that first time was that I absolutely needed a higher shutter speed to keep things sharp.
Given that the rodeo was at night I purposefully underexposed by two stops since the camera would try to meter for daylight. This let me get anywhere between 1/800 and 1/1000 of a second at ISO 6400. I turned on the in-camera noise reduction as well to keep the images reasonable.
