“Make him look tough and tiny,” that was what was written on my photo request for this portrait of Cody Getz of Buford High School. Getz is 5’6 or so and plays running back on the football team. He’s been pretty successful and has drawn the attention of a few colleges.
So as I thought over what I could do to make Cody look small, I came up with the idea of having the biggest guys on the team stand behind him to add extra emphasis to how small he is compared to others who play the game.
For lights I had the writer hold a strobe off camera right and had the middle player hold the other strobe from behind to add the rim light.
In reality, he was about my height. The players said I was taller than him, but I think they were just being nice.
